Driver's Parade & Race
Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Île Ste Hélène
11h30-15h
This morning I left home a bit later than yesterday… I arrived at my spot at the track with about 45 minutes to spare so I sat on the grass in the shade. Actually I laid down. I almost fell asleep too! Then at 11h15 I went to my spot in the grandstands for the driver's parade which was at 11h30. It was nice, people stood up for the drivers and cheered them on. Then another break until the race, 1h30. So I went back to the shaded spot and relaxed there.
At 13h the race was on. It was quite an eventfull race! Lots happened, Jenson scraping the Quebec wall, Trulli retireing in the Senna S, Juan getting a black flag, the safety car for 2 laps, etc. It went by very quickly. After the race I went on track and walked towards the start/finish line and the podium. When I got there the ceremony was over but it was jammed packed with fans that were chanting and celebrating still. It was quite nice! Though crowded and warm too. Then I walked further along the straight. After that I met up with other friends at our spot to see drivers. After waiting a lot they finally started to come out one after the other. It was nice… Most of them were in a hurry but still took time for us by signing autographs and taking pictures.
