This morning the hotel woke me up at 4h45. I checked out at 5h. Then I had 35 minutes to get to the Alilaguna airport shuttle boat stop... which was 5 minutes away. So I headed to Piazza San Marco for one last look. On my way there I saw a rat! It was quite big too. It was scared of me and ran to hide near steps to the canal. Yuck! When I got to the Piazza San Marco I was the only one there!!! 2 other people passed by walking quickly and one was sitting at a table of a closed café at the other end of the square. It was very special to have the whole place to myself! In the past days it was always so crowded with tourists, people selling things, birds, etc. Now it was quiet. And I was alone. So pretty the Basilica, the tower, the illuminated side buildings, Doges Palace. It was the perfect way to say goodbye to Venice.
At 5h30 t he boat arrived and I hopped on. It took about 1h10 and I was at the airport. 20 minutes too early to check in... Only at 7h... So I waited. Then I waited 25 minutes in line at the check in counter. It took about 1 minute and a half to get my boarding pass. It's quick when you don't have any luggage to check in!
The flight Venice-Munich went fine, Air Dolomiti (partner of Lufthansa) gives a really good service and yummy food too! In Munich I had to transit to my next flight into Amsterdam and had just enough time to do so (30 minutes). That flight was also on schedule. At Schiphol I bought a train ticket and took the 13h03 train to Amsterdam Lelylaan, then a metro. Walking to the house I saw 2 parent swans with their new baby swan swimming around. At 13h30 I was back home. Tired and with a cold but with great images of a beautiful city in my head.
