At 6h30 the Aussie girl left and woke me up. I then slept some more until the alarm of my two other roommates woke me up at 7h30. I got up and ready to go! I went down for the breakfast that was included but they hadn’t received the bread yet… There were only cereals and fruit. I had some cereals and an orange… I then left to go to Greenwich. I took the tube to Tower Hill and then the DLR to Cutty Shark.
In Greenwich I walked around and saw the Cutty Shark boat in dry dock, then went on to the Maritime Museum. I explored the different rooms there, my favourite one was the explorators going to the Artic and seeing all of the old gear they used!
After I went to the Royal Observatory, passing through the nice park. A lot of people were out enjoying the beautiful weather, sunny and more than 20 degrees! I spent my whole week in London in the rain and now just when I’m about to leave the sun comes out! Grr! I stood on the 0 longitude line. I enjoyed their Camera Obscura. I toured around the exhibitions. And finally there was a presentation with Steve and he was quite entertaining! I really enjoyed it! Finally before leaving Greenwich the ball indicating 13h dropped!
I walked back down to the pier to catch a boat to the city. On the way I bought a popsicle… It was nice and cool in this “hot” weather! Then at the pier I didn’t know which company to choose to do my cruise on the River Thames. I ended up choosing Catamaran and it cost me 4.55£. The boat was to leave at 14h15 but we left 10 minutes late… The cruise was nice. Though it was really hot on the boat! The commentary was done live by a crew member but it wasn’t all that good sadly! A Chinese girl sat next to me and she really wanted to chat but I’m not so sure her English was that good… She kept saying “ohhhhhhhh yes yes” to what I said but with a puzzled look.
From Embankment I took the tube to Bond Street station. When changing over at Oxford Circus I saw two small rats/mice where the train run. Yuck!!! There is also a lot of rubbish everywhere, a lack of garbage bins on the platforms…! And the Piccadilly Circus station was apparently closed because they found unattended baggage… They don’t want to relive the bombings of last July and are taking all precautions it seems! I came to the EasyInternet and am using up the rest of the time I bought yesterday, about 45 minutes.
In a flash... After that I went to the hostel to rest and pack and enjoyed a ride in the London Eye (20h30)! It's quite an experience! I thought I'd be more nervous as I'm scared of heights, but it's not scary! It really gives a neat overview on the city, and an amazing way to end the London trip!
