We left York after breakfast (which was included with the accomodation, that’s always nice). For brekky I had the “cooked” one again, but this time I could choose what I wanted from the counter. So I took some cereals, fried egg, “bacon” and 3 pieces of toast. We drove all the way from York to Oxford and arrived in the beginning of the afternoon. We found the hostel pretty quickly. I had printed out the information at home and brought it along so that simplified everything!

In Oxford we checked in at the hostel. In the room my Aussie friend calculated what everyone had to pay for the trip’s expenses. I had paid a bit on the way, two nights accom and 1 tank of gas but that wasn’t enough… I still owed money! The total cost of the trip for 8 days (accom, rented car and fuel) was 247.58£! So I took out 100£ for him at a bank ATM. 247.58£ plus food costs… That’s not so bad for touring all of the UK in 8 days!

I also explored Oxford a bit. My friend’s aunt had to make phonecalls and buy a new suitcase so we all split up. Oxford is a pretty city. But very crowded. A lot of cars, people, busses, bikes. A lot of young people too as it is a University town. I liked all the colleges/libraries/etc, they were pretty buildings. And I also enjoyed walking along the shopping street though I didn’t buy anything.

I got tired of walking so I went back to the hostel. My Aussie friend and his aunt were in the room. His mom had dissapeared! We looked out the window, waiting for her return. Hoping she was fine. And she came back 1 hour later. She had gone for a walk. Everyone was tired… No one wanted to head back out to the city. In the reception’s lounge I played two games of chess and lost both. Grrr! Then had dinner, soup, bread, burger, little spicy potatoes, salad, chocolate mousse, all for 5.95£. Hostels are a pretty cheap place to have a big meal! In the evening I watched a bit of television in the room on the miniature tele, some decoration/home improvement show. And then I showered and went to bed, around 22h. We were going to get up at 4h30 in the morning!
