Marcel and I are off to Zandvoort's racing track! We left early on Sunday to catch a train to Haarlem and from there another little train to Zandvoort. We walked to the track. It was my first time in a place like that! It was so kewl being somewhere where F1 cars once raced. Imagine: Ferrari was there for some testing!! Gilles Villeneuve and his son, Jacques, raced there!! I couldn't believe it.
It was a nice place to have a track, with the dunes all around, but it was so windy and cold!! Usually in winter time they don't do any races, and I understand why. It was still nice to be there for the "New Years Race". The 4 hour race was supposed to start at 11am, but it got delayed a bit, so we walked around and I saw a Ferrari... It was the first time I saw a real Ferrari in all my life (Picture 1)!!! I want to own one of them when I get the money!
Finally the race started (Picture 2) and we watched it from different places, the pits, different corners, and more in nature also. We went to some place behind a dune, to be hidden from the wind, and there was also 2 kids with their dads there. I stole a little girl's seat, without knowing and she almost started to cry! Marcel was laughing, but I felt very uncomfy. His dad told me it was ok, I still moved away to another spot but the little girl, traumatized, did not want to sit anymore. After a while I got very cold too, so we went in a little cafe to have something to eat and warm up! I wanted to go home, but Marcel made me stay til the end of the race, and I am glad I did afterall!
We went back his place and ordered pizza at New York Pizza. It was delicious, I ate the whole thing! When Marcel was starting to get stuffed, I still had lots to fill. I guess I was really hungry. After pizza, we watched a Dutch humorist on tele and went to bed.
