5 January 2001 - Scheveningen / The Hague - Holland
Beach

Passing the weekend in Den Haag, so I got up and packed my stuff. Then my friend went to bring me to Den Haag. We took the train, it was a long train ride! We passed by Woerden, the city where my friend grew up, and his mom still lives there. We got in Den Haag and Marcel, that I met previously at the karting, was waiting for us on the "spoor". We all went to his appartment to start with, so I could drop my bag, and we saw many of the different country's embassies.

We then went down to the beach, Scheveningen, to walk there a little bit. It was a very windy day and the sand on the beach was like in a desert (Picture 1). In spite of the cold and the wind, there were two crazy guys wind surfing (Picture 2). We walked a long while on the beach, passing by the Kurhaus, a nice hotel built in 1885 (Picture 3), until we got to the Pier. We then went inside a mall, where we raced a bit in an arcade.

The three of us got hungry so the Stip welcomed us for a nice dinner! After we picked up some groceries, and I saw these HUGE Heineken beer bottles, we didn't buy any but I was amazed at the size (Picture 4). We got some Australian Fosters and I decided to go for Amstel, Dutch beer. I am on Dutch land, I drink Dutch beer! At Marcel's place, he lives in two rooms of a big house, we drank a bit, chatted, and then it was time for my friend to catch his train back home. Marcel and I went to the tram stop with him, and just before my friend left, I gave him a nice kiss. Away from him for a few days, can I survive??! Marcel planned an eventful weekend, so I was up for a good time anyways.
