The day started early: 8am. We got ready
and went to the Grand Café. While waiting for the bus
we saw 100 sheep walking on the street back home. In the bus,
it was full so no 2 seats together. Some nice lady moved for
us to sit together.
We drove to the Limones monastery and stayed
1h. It seems the holy water there helped take my neck ache
away... We then rode to Vatoussa, a village built on an inactive
volcano. We hiked up to the top of the hill because "there
is a good bakery up there" the tour guide said. But...
it was closed! After 30 minutes, we left again, direction
the Petrified Forest.
On the way there the vegetation kept getting
poorer and poorer because of ashes of volcano eruptions. It
looked a bit like Arizona. The petrified trees were surprising.
They looked like wood but it was all stone! Nice color mixes
too. We had a Fanta and then got on the way to Skala Eressos
for 2 hours. Time to eat and go for a swim!
We had lunch on a terrace of a gay restaurant
and while my friend was finishing his lunch, I took a swim in
the cold sea. We bought postcards, took money out the cash
machine and then started the long bus ride back home. As we
went out of the bus, I forgot my vest inside! So as soon as
we came back home I called Olympia to let them know, and they
made sure I'd get my vest back.
We chilled a bit outside by the sunset and
later went to 'To Paradosiako' for dinner. My friend tried different
kinds of Ouzo (normal and the houses' extra strong one) and
we had a very nice meal. The owner was very friendly and it
was a nice atmosphere. My friend's best meal till now he said!
Afterwards we walked a bit to the souvenir shops to have a
look before coming back home very tired (my friend not so much!).
